Unity

The human race is at a crossroads in our evolution. The choices we make over the next few years will determine the course of human existence. We can either come together and make the changes we need, or continue along our curent path to our inevitable self-destruction.

The situation as I see it.

Things are looking pretty bad for the future of humanity in its current state. Our world is growing increasingly polluted. Climate change is rearing its ugly head. Economic stability is precarious. Resources such as fresh water, arable land, oil, and vital precious metals are dwindling and are becoming increasingly more costly as demand increases. World politics are a mess. The corporations are sucking the planet, and it's people dry. Overpopulation will soon be a problem... and already is in many countries. It will soon be another global dilemma to face with the attending problems it brings... increased resource depletion and disease.

While most politicians and corporations get fat, the segment of the worlds population that would be able to make the changes we need to make are too busy watching mindless drivel on TV or worrying about making more money so they can buy more useless things that consume more non-renewable resources.

That segment of the population is us. We, the people in the developed countries. We alone are the ones that can make the descision to help humanity. We have the money, the education, and the resources to start making changes. We need to get our collective heads out of the sand, get together and force the corporations and the politicians to make changes so our civilization can survive.

What can you do?

Easy. Educate yourself.

Find out what is really happening in the world. There is an amazing tool at your disposal that has access to the collective knowledge of the human race thus far. The Internet. The largest library in history. Read books, watch educational television. Forget the canned news that the networks offer. It's all sanitized, financed and controlled by the corporations and politicians that really don't want you to really know what is going on.

To start you on your long journey towards enlightenment, here are a few keywords to put into your favorite search engine.

Peak Oil
Zero point energy
Overpopulation
Resource depletion
World economic stability

Some of the links will be very technical, some will be greatly simplified. I guarantee that most of them will be downright scary. Don't buy into the fear mongering, just educate yourself and see that we do have options... we just have to make sure that our world leaders, governments and corporations use the ones that are best for humanity as a whole, not just one small segment of our global society.

That's enough for today. I will leave you with some nice light reading with a little letter I wrote a few years ago when I first became truly aware that we were on a collision course with disaster.

As scary as it all is, I have faith in the fact that we can do what we need to do to not just survive, but flourish. You should too.

Gerald
